Like-New-In-Box Omega Museum Collector's Series Number One the 1938 Pilot's Watch with Everything - Low Low Price!!! $2,370 ($4,295 list) + $35 (S/H/I)
In 2001, the
Omega Museum Collection arose from a desire to combine the historical milestones
of timekeeping with the technology of the 21st century. The collection
mainly targets collectors and aficionados of extraordinary watches.
The first model (thus Number One) is a new edition of a pilot's watch from
1938. Apart from changes to various technological details and materials to
bring them up to date, the watch is the same as its predecessor. Even the
bi-directional turning bezel mechanism, which allows an additional time scale to
be moved on the dial, was kept. The watch has a striking dark-brown
calfskin strap. One extravagant detail as a tribute to early pilot habits
is an additional, extra-wide leather strap (approx. 6x60cm), which can be used
for wearing the watch above the knee. Inscriptions on case-back: "THE
OMEGA MUSEUM COLLECTION", year of original "1938," "PILOT'S
WATCH," specification "COLLECTOR'S SERIES NUMBER ONE" and limited
edition number from 0001/4938 to 4938/4938. The Omega Museum Collection,
limited edition 2002. Reference 5701.80.03.
This Omega Museum Collector's Series 1938 Pilot's Watch is a re-release of a classic Omega pilot's watch in 1938. It is in a 40.2mm x 11.75mm polished SS snap back case with bi-directional rotating bezel, water resistant to 5 Bar, the equivalent of 50 meters static water pressure. It has a signed crown and domed anti-reflective, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The mint black and silver dial has white Arabic numerals, "Poire Squelette" hands filled with super-liminova and subsidiary seconds at six. The case back is discretely numbered of a series whose maximum has been set at 4938. This watch is on a signed brown leather strap with signed SS tang type buckle. There is a massive pilot's strap in a leather pouch in the box as well. This watch truly appears to be unworn, without even the most superficial of scratches or other flaws on the case or the straps. The Omega cal 2200 self-winding movement with rhodium-plated finish has a 44 hour power reserve, and maintains accurate time to plus two seconds a day. This watch will be sold with its large outer box, the large transparent top display case, all papers including chronometer certificate and warranty card dated 12/15/2002, and all other accessories. What an impressive package and like new in its entirety! It was meant to be on display and admired. This watch had been featured in a number of watch magazines as a collector's watch. It has a list price of $4,295. It is yours for $2,375 plus $35 shipping/handling/insurance.
