Ernest Gorgerat founded Kelek in 1896 during the year of the first modern Olympics in Greece. He established his new company in La Chaux-de-Fonds, inaugurating a tradition that has transformed that Swiss town into the El Dorado of watch making, no mean feat in a country legendary throughout the world for its stellar timepieces. Because of Kelek, La Chaux-de-Fonds has become the Mecca of horology, attracting the finest craftsmen, artists and engineers in the watch manufacturing industry. Over the last 100 years the town and the company have weathered the extraordinary vicissitudes of the twentieth century, riding the tide of revolutions, wars, catastrophes and innovations. Now, under the stewardship of Chief Executive Gabriel Feuvrier, Kelek carries on its remarkable reputation for high standards and holds its place in the pantheon of outstanding Swiss watch manufacturers. Great location and its recent renovation have only made it better. Through Feuvrier's efforts, Kelek hones the technical skills of its engineers, nurtures the creativity of its artists and craftsmen, promotes international trade, maintains its independence and profitability, and continues to penetrate the mystery of time in its relationship to modern society. While many watch manufacturers dove headlong into the new quartz market, KELEK remained true to its roots; producing top-quality mechanical timepieces.
KELEK is one of the largest manufacturers of chronographs in the world, and has for years manufactured or assembled watches for many of Switzerland's leading luxury brands in a private label agreement, in addition to promoting its own name worldwide. With its smooth yet complicated interiors and classic exteriors, KELEK has long since attracted European and Asian watch connoisseurs. Since arriving in the United States, these technical marvels have been stirring great interest amongst American watch enthusiasts. With 38 patented and reserved complex mechanisms in its watch arsenal, KELEK is among the world leaders in complicated movements. Self-winding (automatic) mechanical designs account for 100% of KELEK's production-utilizing 100% Swiss made components. 70% of the KELEK collection features chronographs with the other 30% showcasing other complications, such as perpetual calendars, etc.

Kelek is among the ELITE of Swiss watch manufacturers to focus on
mechanical timepieces, as seen in
this review by Joe Urich at HR Magazine => http://www.hr-magazine.com/Special2.html,
or take a look at what Watchbuys says about Kelek => http://www.watchbuys.com/KelekFacts.htm#Company_Background.
This ageless beauty was listed for $21,500 when it was available,
but I don't think Kelek makes it anymore, so with very limited previous
productions, it now becomes a collector's item. Cigar King was selling it for $19,530, while another European vendor Chrono24 had listed it for
€ 17,245.
It is now yours for only $7,995 plus $45
shipping/handling/insurance. Don't miss this great opportunity of owning
this mechanical and artistic masterpiece! You'll never see an 18K
mechanical perpetual calendar chronograph with moon phase in such fine condition
at such a low price!
Comes with original box and papers, and two Kelek crocodile straps with two 18K layered buckles (one currently on the watch and one new). You simply cannot find an 18K solid gold automatic watch with perpetual calendar/chronograph/moon phase in better condition and better price than this one. It is perfect in every way with a mechanical grande complication to boost! As you know, a masterpiece of such complication can only be produced and serviced by a master watchmaker!
BTW, the AP Offshore Perpetual Calendar Chronograph (titanium or steel) uses the same movement with the same functions supplied by Kelek but costs $46,900 retail. Check them out at: http://www.royaloakclub.com/main02.asp?mnuNum=25854.
