Near Mint+++ Dubey & Schaldenbrand Limited Edition "Vintage Caprice" with All Boxes and Papers - Low Low Price!

Dubey & Schaldenbrand are renowned for their many, splendid Limited Edition models, which are revealed each and every year at the Basel Fair.  For the 2002 Basel Fair, Dubey & Schaldenbrand introduced their limited edition, very unique timepiece using the renowned Aerodyn Tonneau-shaped case... aptly named "Vintage Caprice."   And why the name "Vintage Caprice?" Possibly because a "caprice" can be a very wonderful and special time ... a time to get away from the everyday ... the sudden desire to do something unexpected - usually on a whim or fancy.  If only we could get away more often to enjoy the thrill and pleasure of embarking on a caprice every now and then. Such a wonderful thought!

A look at the "Vintage Caprice" and you are immediately taken by the beautiful "art nouveau" design of the dial - a style which is very dear to Dubey & Schaldenbrand.  Add to this the delicate, skeleton hands along with the sumptuous Aerodyn tonneau - shaped case and you have a look that is harmoniously matched to perfection.

The movement of "Vintage Caprice" is based on the automatic ETA 2892-2A, exclusively modified for Dubey & Schaldenbrand - and features a big date window at 6 o'clock (with 2 separate disks) and a large power reserve indicator at 12 o'clock, water resistant to 30 meters.  It has a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective on both sides.  What's very special (and rare) is the location of the winding crown, which has been positioned on the left side of the case.  This is ideal for those people who like to wear their watch on the right hand - a question of being different or ... a little caprice?  It is also ideal for those people who are left-handed.

This series is limited to 500 pieces in 316L Surgical Stainless Steel, and this one, Number 176/500, has an attractive, classy white enamel dial.  International Wrist Watch Magazine featured the D&S "Vintage Caprice" on its cover and story as "Great Watches."

Tradition

Since the founding of Dubey & Schaldenbrand in 1946, the manufacturer has been creating timepieces that have won a number of awards and patents. Through a meticulous choice of components and traditional assembly by Master watchmakers, Dubey & Schaldenbrand offers a choice of watches that are of the highest standard in mechanical watches.  Recasing each movement according to the era when it was created, the Dubey & Schaldenbrand designs rapidly found a niche with collectors.  Their limited editions have always been sold out.  Many were based upon modern automatic movements.  Modern does not mean that the same care and attention was not to be used.  Quite the opposite. From the movement engravers to the dial and hand makers, they all shared the same vision and love for the things and traditions of the past.

Quality

The Dubey & Schaldenbrand declaration of quality : Dubey & Schaldenbrand exclusively uses 100% Swiss-made parts.  Each timepiece has been assembled and controlled exclusively in Switzerland and is fully registered.  The components are only of the highest quality including case materials, the stainless steel is reference 316L (or surgical steel).  The hands are skeletonized and then filled with tritium to enhance readability or solid when the design of the watch requires it.  The exclusive Dubey & Schaldenbrand dials come from only the finest craftsmen, in some cases requiring more than 65 operations in preparation.  Each movement, whether modem or vintage, has been meticulously assembled and controlled by Master watchmakers and then hand engraved by specially trained Swiss craftsmen.  To capture Time at its best and through the eras, there cannot be any compromise with quality...

If you are into collecting great wristwatches, don't miss your chance of acquiring this hard-to-find timepiece in a truly pristine condition.  I couldn't spot any scratch/dink/dent/flaw on it, its strap looks unused, and I would rate it at 98% condition.  It comes with all boxes, papers, along with a beautiful red lacquer finished display case.  It is retailed for $4,900 USD at Princeton Watches.  Now it is offered at unbelievable $2,225 plus shipping/insurance!  Please contact Edward at el1998@hotmail.com if interested.  Many references and NAWCC member.
