Near-Mint-In-Box 18K Limited Edition (201/333) White Gold Blancpain Time Zone GMT, All Boxes and Papers!!! $7,800 ($24,600 list per amazon.com) + $60 (S/H/I)
Spectacular watch! Simply a work of art! That is what Blancpain is known for. Founded in 1735 by Jehan-Jacques Blancpain, Blancpain is the watch house that has actually produced contemporary luxury watches with little or no compromise in the art of watch-making. Everything is executed with the same level of integrity (dial, case, movement, etc.). Sticking true to their tradition, in fact so much so that they only make mechanical timepieces with round faces, every Blancpain watch is hand-assembled and polished from start to finish by a designated watchmaker at Blancpain, individually numbered and signed. Boxes, bracelets, straps and buckles are of the highest possible quality, in keeping with the company's strict emphasis on quality. As for the movements, they are designed and crafted completely in-house, and based exclusively on high-quality ebauches that are provided by their sister company, Frederic Piguet. Since Piguet and Blancpain share the same building, it might be said that a Blancpain watch features an in-house movement. Blancpain's production is extremely limited, with fewer than 10,000 watches per year being produced, but the limited production does not diminish Blancpain from being one of the most respected watch companies in the world.
The Blancpain Time Zone GMT watch is a fine example of the
classical craftsmanship which Blancpain has pursued through its long and
distinguished history. It is also an outstanding watch for travelers; its
primary 12-hour hand can be adjusted independently of the minute and second
hand, to account for changes to local time, and it also incorporates a cleverly
designed second timezone with a charming and easily comprehensible AM/PM
indication, as well as a date display.
The subdial at twelve o'clock can be set to display the time in a secondary
location--for example, home time or Universal Time Coordinated (UTC)--and this
arrangement is linked to the display at nine o'clock which features a revolving
disc marked with a depiction of the sun and moon positioned 180 degrees apart;
this disc enables the wearer to tell whether the time indicated is day or
night.
The heart of the Blancpain Leman Time Zone GMT watch is the 5L60 Calibre
movement, a refined and ultra-slim selfwinding movement developed by Blancpain
in conjunction with Frederic Piguet. Boasting a 100-hour power reserve, the
5L60 Calibre is composed of 253 hand-finished parts, all arranged within the low
height of 3.25 millimeters. Embellished by traditional Cotes de Geneve, anglage,
and perlage finishes, each 5L60 movement is assembled from start to finish by a
single Blancpain watchmaker, a custom that is traditional at the Manufacture
Blancpain.
The Blancpain Leman Time Zone GMT watch is also durable; like the other members
of the Leman watch collection, it features a screw-down crown and a screwed
caseback, ensuring water resistance to 100 meters. Combining rugged
construction, elegant details, and technical sophistication, the Blancpain Leman
Time Zone GMT watch is a versatile and distinguished luxury timepiece.
So, this is a limited edition (LE) Blancpain Time Zone GMT in 18k white gold with the opaline dial. The opaline dial is only on the LE model, and is richer-looking than the white dial IMO. This is 201 of the 333 ever-made. It's the 38mm size with display back and is in near-mint condition. This watch was originally purchased in 2005 and I am the third owner. Got it from a well-respected watch enthusiast/trader from Timezone.
This limited edition Blancpain Leman Time Zone GMT watch is presented in a 38mm 18k white gold case that displays a very fine polished finish, with the characteristic Blancpain stepped bezel. The watch has skeletonized hands, as well as a very sporty black "Military" dial, with bold luminous indications. The wear line is still clearly shown on back, showing how little it's been worn.
There are no nicks, dents or dings, or deep scratches at all, only some inevitable surface scuffs (can be easily removed but they don't bother me). It is all original, including the beautiful Blancpain wooden display box, outer box, and all papers. The original blue Blancpain alligator strap is in 85-90% condition with the original 18k white gold tang buckle in virtually unused condition. For this package, I will also include a Blancpain SS buckle, as well as a generic SS deployant.
This watch has a 100-hour power reserve and screw-down crown, water resistant to 100 meters. Changing timezones is a breeze, once you read the manual and try! Keeps great time too -- +3 seconds per day.
The non-limited-edition version is being sold for $18,900 at European Watch Co. Of course the limited edition is a watch collector's choice and should cost more! Now it is yours for only a fraction of that cost at $7,800 for this limited edition beauty (Major Major Savings!!!) plus $60 shipping/handling/insurance within USA. With gold hitting all time high, this is a rare find!!! Available now!
